Our inspectors are trained and certified through AHIT (American Home Inspectors Training and earn yearly CEUs through the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). We’ve performed cumulatively thousands of inspections; and our inspectors have years of experience in building, in addition to having spent months training alongside Chuck and Chris, our lead inspectors. This means you, our home buyers, will know you are getting a top-notch home inspection. Voted one of Ankeny’s best in 2023 & 2024 as a recent honor, as well as ongoing reviews from our clients, many of whom are repeat clients.

Chuck Wiemann, Owner

“I graduated from high school knowing I wanted to pursue work in the building trades.  I spent 20 years in new home building.  Ongoing customer service and excellence remain the cornerstone of my business today. I was privileged to learn under a highly-regarded Des Moines-area home builder who taught me how to build quality homes and to treat customers right.

Previous to starting my home inspection company I ran Wiemann Remodeling with my son, Chris. Our Des Moines area home inspection company stemmed from numerous customers asking me to inspect their homes in preparation to sell.  They also regularly consulted with me regarding problems encountered after moving into a home.  As a result, I felt a strong desire to provide people with honest, skilled inspections and to make scheduling an inspection as simple as possible. For me, it’s all about treating people right.

My wife, Julie, and I have two children who are married and three grandchildren! We worship at the Ridge in Ankeny where my wife is on staff and we are both involved in serving in a variety of ways. My hobbies include home projects and spending time with family and friends.”

Chris Wiemann, Lead Inspector

“I’ve always loved building things and working on houses. At a young age, I started helping my dad work and do projects around the house. When I was in high school I took a two year remodeling program at Central Campus and through our church participated in multiple working mission trips to help remodel and rebuild communities in several different states.

I had the opportunity to gain a lot of experience working with a new home builder in the area for a couple of years and then helping run our family remodeling business for several years.  My building experience comes from both residential and commercial.   Like my dad, serving people and teaching them about homes is my passion.

My wife Amanda and I have three children. We live in Urbandale, worship and serve at Lutheran Church of Hope-Waukee, and I enjoy working on home projects, flipping some properties, golfing, and spending time with my family. I love to learn and am constantly looking at ways to improve our skills as home inspectors in Des Moines.”

Tim Sluiter, Inspector

Tim says he’s always loved building and rebuilding things. “I spent multiple years after college in the construction trades as a trim carpenter, window and door installer, remodeler, and handyman. I also enjoy the process of helping and teaching others. That, combined with a curiosity for how things work and attention to detail, makes being a home inspector a natural fit.

After spending 13 years in ministry, my wife and I are enjoying being a part of the Wiemann Home Inspection team. I love having an eye for detail and working with clients to help them feel great about their home purchases.

My wife Amy and I have two kids and enjoy game nights and movies together. I also am passionate about golf, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and cheering on our kids in whatever activities they are involved in.”

Fred Koke, Inspector

“At the age of nine I helped my dad build our home in Stillwater, Minnesota. That was the beginning of my interest in building and fixing things around the house. Basically, I was my dad’s shadow. After 15 years in the hospitality industry, I decided to pursue my passion for building, remodeling and handyman work. I began my own business, Eagle Eye Remodeling, in 2006 where I continued to apprentice under a reputable contractor in Pella and eventually contract on my own.

My 30+ years of customer service and carpentry/handyman experience made my decision to join the Wiemann Home Inspection team a perfect transition. I named my business “Eagle Eye” for the specific reason that I have an eye for detail and strive for perfection in all I do! I know that’s important to the Wiemanns and also important as an inspector.

My wife, Mari, and I have been blessed with two sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and an adorable grandson. We live in Bondurant and got to know Chuck through The Ridge in Ankeny.  My hobbies include Grandpa & Grandma Wednesdays, golfing, fishing, annual trips to the Boundary Waters, and motorcycling – all spent with family and friends.”

Ben DeReus, Sewer Scope Technician and Inspector in Training

Ben

“Throughout my professional career, I have developed an eye for detail. Having experience in installing audio-visual and other various low-voltage electrical systems in local hospitals and schools, I have needed to focus on small details to ensure these systems work.

As a kid, I’d ask myself ‘What do I want to do when I grow up?’ and as a “grown-up,” I find myself still asking that question! But one thing that hasn’t changed is the answer, which is to help people. Whether it’s serving at church or while I’m at work, the end goal is always to help others. I’m excited to be a sewer scope technician and home inspector because not only does it allow me more flexibility for time with my family, but I also get to teach people about their future and current homes which impacts their families. This job helps people make good decisions about their future and I get to play an active role in making sure this step in home ownership is a positive one.

My wife, Kelsie, and I have four children. We worship at The Ridge in Ankeny where my wife is on staff. I enjoy serving on the worship team there as well. In my free time, I spend time outdoors trail hiking and running, taking my kids to the park with my wife, and spending time with my wife at her happy place, Target.”
